AMAZING! What an incredible energy in the room at the first Builders In Company meet!
We had 15 in attendance at Tom's office yesterday, and what a powerful group of people. Sharing a few hours "In Company" with this group of talented and passionate people was truly an inspiration.
We covered a range of topics including what really fires us all up and what we'd like to see happen in our work and in the community. We want buildings which set the bar to a whole new level, and soon enough the old ways will be forced out.
For those who couldn't join us yesterday, the record of the meeting will be posted below for you to catch up on. Thank you Danielle Dufour for putting this together!!
What's next? We discussed the value in meeting once a month to keep the network thriving. We have nearly 60 members and if we all come to the next meeting we have two options for a larger meeting space! Thanks Erik at NIC and Cyrill at Cascadian Woodtech for offering your space. We also concluded that this is more than just a networking community for building professionals.
This collaboration of minds, all with a very similar vision, is forming into what could be a new model of how we do business. Erik Hardin made a great point, that when we work independently we are slow to progress because we spend so much time and effort solving the same problems as the person before. We can share these experiences with one another and get over these humps much faster than working in isolation, thus bringing us all closer to the change we know we need to see happen.
Please keep in touch on this group. We will have a website and e-mail list soon.
We will also be compiling or profiles/ mini Bio/ portfolios for the web to give everyone exposure and see the tribe at large! Please send them to my e-mail ryan@hughestimbercraft.com. The sooner the better!
Thank you Tom Dishlevoy for hosting in your office and Rahel Mushruky for you wonderful appy's!!!! We had more drink options on ice in a cooler and totally forgot! It was a good thing we had a couple jugs of beer out in the open!
