Vision Statement

We are a network of building professionals based in the Comox Valley.

We belong to many different trades, such as carpentry, electrical, design, zoning and construction law, to name a few, yet we are all committed to a set of common beliefs:

● We believe that sharing our successes and challenges with each other brings valuable, tangible benefits, such as insight, advice or recommendation.

● We believe that our common problems can be solved faster and more effectively as a group than as individuals working in isolation.

● We believe in building practices that are socially and ecologically responsible.

This is a call to all like-minded individuals. Together we can create better buildings and a better future.

"There have been a number of people and companies in the Comox Valley who are interested in making a difference and seeing some forward momentum in the building and construction industry. Unfortunately, the Valley hasn't seen a whole lot of progression over the years, where other cities have made leaps and bounds. From just the first two meetings, it's been clear that there is significant interest in working together within the building industry to do things more efficiently and simply, better. What has been great about the first BIC meetings is that they've quickly began conversations that otherwise may never have happened. BIC is bringing people together with similar values. Those relationships would have taken significantly longer to create had it not been for Builders In Company.

The Comox Valley is falling behind. It's easy to look around and see other cities and regions striving to do better for the environment via their building practices. Even implementing the BC Energy Step Code is something several builders have yet to see here. It is clear that the rapidly growing network of Builders In Company is going to make significant head way with better building practices. I look forward to seeing what ways we can help progress and influence sustainable initiatives, possible policy and incentives around "green" building, and grow the network of builders and trades to keep the forward momentum.

I've been building relationships with some of the BIC members for some time now, and we're all excited to work together. Tom Dishlevoy and I have seen eye to eye for some time with the hopes of greener building practices and hopes for wider adoption and will likely see that going forward.

Prisym has teamed up with Cyrill Werlen and Reto Schnyder at Cascadian Woodtech, a Swiss inspired timber frame building designer & manufacturer, in the creation and manufacturing of our Solar Pergola products. We are making headway in the solar energy innovation sector and are doing so only through relationships like those that are fostered through Builders In Company."
